The North Baltimore Tigers played the Elmowood Royals and it was a battle right down to the finish with the Royals edging out the Tigers 12-8 when the final whistle was blown. The Royals improved their record to 2-1 with the win and did it largely on the shoulders of their senior running back, Luke Garner. Garner had 173 yards in the game on 26 carries. He also tacked a touchdown onto his stat line as well.

The longest play of the game was a 72 yard touchdown run by North Baltimore running back Dalton Ishmael. It was the highlight of the day offensively for both teams. It was largely a defensive battle with both teams gaining a large portion of their yards on the ground. North Baltimore had 139 yards and Elmwood had 147 yards rushing and the teams had 18 and 52 yards passing respectively as well.

One interesting fact about the game is that neither team managed to convert an extra point. There were three touchdowns scored in the game and all of the extra point attempts failed. North Baltimore scored 8 points because they got a safety during the fourth quarter after they pinned the Royals deep in their own territory. North Baltimore will face Mohawk next week.

It was meant to be the game of the year, the North Baltimore Tigers gearing up to take on their new rival, the St. Wendelin Mohawks. Homes across the state were queuing up their service tv packages to catch the game and plans were being made for this exciting event. No one wanted to miss a minute of this incredible match-up years in the making.

Then, after a shattering defeat to Danbury at Memorial Stadium, St. Wendelin was effectively crippled. With the health conditions of three primary starters in question, the St. Wendelin administrators made the call and canceled the game against the Tigers.

While a shocking disappointment to both schools and the sports community, no one else handled the event with more professionalism and maturity than the administrations of both the Tigers and the Mohawks. With time being an obvious factor in the decision, both administrations knew that the safety of the children came first.

While suffering the financial brunt of a sudden cancellation, St. Wendelin’s administration weathered the storm. Parents of the players and members of the administration stood by the call, stating that some things in sports were clearly more important than winning or competing in a game.

When it comes to high school sports and team match ups, some pairings bring out a sense of pride on both sides. in fact, certain games bring out the best in all players and draw a crowd just based on the teams playing one another. In the Baltimore area, when the North Baltimore Tigers do battle against the Mohawk Warriors, you can be assured that you will be in for a night of great football, plenty of school spirit on both sides and some lively action. The lure and draw of football throughout Ohio is strong, and the rivalry between these two school is unmatched when it comes to football. When the Warriors descend on the field in black, red and white; you get the sense that the players are living up their name as warriors. The Tigers emerge in black and orange uniforms, always looking ready to pounce on their opponent. Such match-ups bring out members of the community and surrounding areas just to see the sportsmanship, rivalry and great plays which always occur during such important games as more than just a win is at stake; as football is a lifestyle in the area and winning is also a way to show dedication and commitment to the sport.

The North Baltimore Tigers hit the road to take on in-conference foes Seneca East. This promised to be a gridiron battle that would be interesting down to the very end. Unfortunately, this game broke its promise. Seneca East pounced on North Baltimore early in the game taking a 20 point lead in the first quarter. They tacked on 14 more points in the second quarter without giving up a score. The domination on both sides of the ball continued through the second half as the game ended with a score of 41-6.

Seneca East won the game with a balanced offense. They had over two hundred yards of offense in both phases of the game. They also dominated on defense. Their stout defensive line only allowed 123 rushing yards even though North Baltimore ran the ball 59 times. North Baltimore had no passing game to speak of throwing the ball five times for one completion and 12 yards.

With an offense like, it is hard to come back from the kind of margin that Seneca East had put on the board. North Baltimore didn’t even get a score until the last score of the game as Jordan Watson caught the teams lone reception for a 14 yard touchdown grab.

Basketball season ended back in March and it will not be starting again until later this year. However, determined athletes know that if they want to be the best, they will have to begin practicing early in the year. You can find a quick rundown here Most likely, both of these teams are spending their summer days on the courts preparing for the upcoming season. Most people think that high school basketball is all fun and games, but it is actually a-lot of hard work.

Many of these boys have dreams of making it to the NBA one day. If they want their dreams to come true, they will have to practice hard. Many high school basketball players sacrifice a-lot to play on the team, but that is the price that they will have to pay to pursue their dream.
